Casa Leonor Sesimbra 2970 Portugal mandy@casa-leonor.com Sesimbra The historical town of Sesimbra is where you will find the heart of the local community, being nestled into the mountain side affords Sesimbra a micro climate with pleasing temperatures all year round. The town is protectively overlooked by the 5 towered 13th century castle. It also encloses the 12th century church of the Santa Maria de Castelo. Being a "fishers village" by nature, the harbour still keeps the traditions alive with its typical colourful trawlers. At many of the local restaurants you will find many local specialities of fish and seafood at the restaurants in Sesimbra. Serra da Arrabida Along the coast between Sesimbra and Setubal lies Serra da Arrabida. Here you will find the only surviving example of primative mediterranean vegetation. It's formation goes back 180 million years. The park was formed in 1976 ad covers 10,800 hectares and stands 499 metres high. This national park is where the mountains meet the ocean, where unbeatable greenary, little beaches with transparent water make this natural paraside a desirable place. Cabo Espichel Cabo Espichel is a ten minute drive from the house. It is one of the country's most beautiful promontories. Here you can visit the shrine of Our Lady of the Cape and the memory Chapel. There are also traces of the Jurassic era, with fossilised foot prints imprinted in the rock, which are estimated to be several million years old. Lagoa de Albufeira Lagoa de Albufeira lies on the west coast and is just a short drive from the house. It is a place of natural beauty. Ideal for sunbathing and water sports. Alongside the lagoon you will find a 17km stretch of specacular beach. Lisbon If you miss the hustle and bustle of city life then Lisbon our capital is only a short ride away, where you can shop, dine out, or just wander around enjoying the many delights on offer. Rossio is one of the most beautiful squares in Lisboa, it is full of stunning monuments and fountains. Surrounded the the D. Maria II National Theatre, Café Nicola founded in 1929, also the most ornate train station you will ever see. The Statue of Cristo Rei overlooks the city of Lisboa, it portrays the Sacred Heart inviting all of humanity to come to him through love. This monument bears witness to the love and acceptance of  Christ the King by the Portuguese People. We suggest that to fully experience your holiday that you hire a car.
